ABOUT
O Estúdio Gustavo Utrabo nasce de um olhar atento e sensível às urgências do mundo contemporâneo. Entendemos a arquitetura como uma ferramenta de transformação, construída a partir do diálogo com diferentes territórios, suas histórias e as materialidades que os conformam.
Propomos a ampliação do campo da arquitetura, imaginando espaços que conciliam sensibilidade poética com rigor construtivo. Nossos projetos são guiados por uma reflexão crítica sobre a sociedade e nutridos por uma pesquisa constante, comprometida com as incertezas e complexidades do nosso tempo.
Nosso processo de criação busca promover deslocamentos — físicos, conceituais e sensoriais — por meio de uma abordagem que integra a pesquisa material às práticas ligadas às artes visuais. A produção de pinturas e objetos carregados de significado nos permite refletir profundamente sobre cada projeto, enriquecendo o pensamento arquitetônico com camadas sensíveis, simbólicas e poéticas.
O comprometimento com a lógica estrutural de cada proposta é fundamental, não apenas pelo desejo de empregar a menor quantidade possível de material, mas também pela intenção de tocar o solo com leveza — aspirando a uma arquitetura sutil, precisa e sensível ao seu contexto.
Realizamos uma investigação contínua sobre os materiais, as técnicas e as formas de construir. Essa exploração não busca apenas soluções mais coerentes e sustentáveis, mas também visa ampliar o conhecimento sobre o espaço construído — para que esse saber possa ser compartilhado, replicado e transformado.
Ao final, cada projeto busca compor uma atmosfera que nos desloque como presença no mundo — que nos reconecte àquilo que somos e nos relembre a potência que carregamos como seres humanos.
Estúdio Gustavo Utrabo emerges from an attentive and sensitive gaze toward the urgencies of the contemporary world. We understand architecture as a tool for transformation, shaped through dialogue with diverse territories, their histories, and the materialities that define them.
We propose an expansion of the field of architecture, envisioning spaces that reconcile poetic sensibility with constructive rigor. Our projects are guided by a critical reflection on society and nourished by continuous research, committed to the uncertainties and complexities of our time.
Our creative process seeks to foster displacements—physical, conceptual, and sensorial—through an approach that integrates material research with practices rooted in the visual arts. The production of paintings and meaningful objects allows us to reflect deeply on each project, enriching architectural thought with sensitive, symbolic, and poetic layers.
Commitment to the structural logic of each proposal is essential—not only out of the desire to employ the least amount of material possible, but also from the intention of touching the ground lightly—aspiring to an architecture that is subtle, precise, and attuned to its context.
We pursue a continuous investigation into materials, techniques, and ways of building. This exploration does not aim solely at more coherent and sustainable solutions, but also at expanding knowledge about constructed space—so that such knowledge may be shared, replicated, and transformed.
Ultimately, each project seeks to compose an atmosphere that shifts our presence in the world—one that reconnects us with who we are and reminds us of the potential we carry as human beings.

Gustavo Utrabo graduated in Architecture and Urbanism at UFPR in 2010. He contributed to lectures and other performances at institutions such as Harvard GSD, IIT Chicago, University of Hong Kong, Future Architecture Platform at the MAO museum in Ljubljana, RIBA in London and FAU-USP in São Paulo, among others. Gustavo was an assistant professor at Escola da Cidade in São Paulo, a visiting professor at the MA program at the University of Hong Kong and also at the IIT College of Architecture in Chicago. For six years Gustavo Utrabo was a founding partner of Aleph Zero, leading the main projects carried out by the firm.
Gustavo Utrabo formou-se em Arquitetura e Urbanismo pela UFPR em 2010. Contribuiu em palestras e outras atuações em instituições como Harvard GSD, IIT Chicago, University of Hong Kong, Future Architecture Platform no museu MAO em Ljubljana, RIBA em Londres e FAU-USP em São Paulo, entre outros. Gustavo foi professor assistente da Escola da Cidade em São Paulo, professor convidado no programa MA da Universidade de Hong Kong e também na IIT College of Architecture em Chicago. Por seis anos Gustavo Utrabo foi sócio fundador da Aleph Zero, encabeçando os principais projetos efetuados pelo escritório.
