After assembling the concrete structures, the main cables are strung across the river. Then smaller vertical cables are built on both sides towards the middle of the passage, a metal arched structure is mounted, always hanging, the horizontal stiffening comes by precast concrete slabs and the final consolidation takes place by the final layer of concrete, the only element that will be cast in place.


East Bridge Structure

Within the narrow lot situated on the north side of the East Bridge are four built masses: two that serve as a counterweight and entryway to the bridge, and two that provide space for multiple modes of assembly. The program relates to educational equipment on the north bank of the river: Colégio Damas, Academia Pernambucana de Letras, Colégio Núcleo and the State Board of Education, creating a space for collaboration between institutions and the public.

On the opposite side, the modules are arranged in such a way as to create an area next to the river, to provide a resting and contemplation zone for the south bank, where there is no projected access. The modules meet the curve of Rua Marcos André, providing a rest area for pedestrians, cyclists and joggers who travel along the trails in the region.

The concrete elements will not only support the forces in the relentless fight against gravity, but also receptacles of new natural social relations, aging and blending into the landscape as the years go by.
